Open Discussion Thread: The New V Pilot

Anna and her Visitor buddies are about to touch down tonight on ABC (in case you missed the gazillion commercials on TV last night), and this is your open discussion thread to talk about the pilot. Did you love it? Hate it? Somewhere in-between?

I saw a version of the pilot a while back in San Diego during Comic Con, and enjoyed it. (Read that review here.) Word is, the pilot showing tonight has some new footage, new scenes, and a spiffier ending thanks to some highly-publicized reshoots. That’s probably a good idea, because the original ending was a little … tame. Hopefully they won’t change too much.

“V” premieres tonight on ABC 8/9 Central.

    I was a bit disappointed to see that the pilot is only one hour long. My idea of a pilot movie has always been 2 hours long. Anyway it's simply a minor detail. I hope that this remake will be darker and not turn into a Sci-Fi soap opera like the old V weekly show turned out. I also think that making Anna's hair this short is a turn off not only that but she doesn't look threatening at all unlike her character in Stargate SG-1. She really played that part well and looked evil. Well can't wait for tonight I'll give it a chance.

    So far the first 30 minutes has been a complete waste and an embarrasment to television storytelling.

    Am i the only who sees this or does just look like a mix of terminator and every other cop show on TV. I didnt find the pilot that entertaining

    The Fascism storyline of the original series was better, Jane Balder (Diana) def. made a more sinister character so far. The special effects were very good though. I also liked the rivalries between the vistors between Steven, Diana, ect.

    Waste of time. Simplistic and predictable. The first half hour was a complete snooze fest. Why is it in American network TV they always dumb down the premise of every television show that has the potential of a good plot. And what’s with the traitor/visitor who falls in love with the unsuspecting terrene. Oh please give me a break!

    I liked the pilot. The visitors are appropriately seductive and appear innocuous to the earthlings. The leader, Anna, has an enchanting smile but there is the look of a hidden secret behind it. The earthlings appear to be scared and confused, but ultimately vulnerable to the charms of the visitors. I like the idea of the “traitors,” lizard-like visitors who have abandoned their own kind in rebellion against their clandestine plans to subjugate and even obliterate the earthlings. Good stuff so far.
