Omni Consumer Products has Found its New CEO in Hugh Laurie

Looks like Doctor House is about to make a badass house call to Jose Padilha’s “Robocop” remake. The long-time “House” star is currently in negotiations to join the cast of the MGM remake, and should he sign on, would play the head of Omni Consumer Products, the biggest of the big corporations in the movie’s world. Besides creating Robocop, OCP is also responsible for a lot of the troubles that befalls our half-human, half-cyborg law enforcer.

Laurie would co-star with Joel Kinnaman, who will be playing Alex Murphy, hotshot Detroit City cop who gets himself killed, then resurrected as the titular cyborg.

The rest of the cast include Gary Oldman as Robocop’s scientist inventor, Samuel L. Jackson as a media mogul, and Abbie Cornish as Murphy’s wife, who believes her husband is dead. Boy, won’t she be surprised when a shiny robot with a badass gun shows up at her front door. “Honey, I’m home!”

Laurie’s character isn’t just the head of OCP, but he’ll also be the movie’s villain, as expected.
