I guess even schlocky sci-fi counts as sci-fi, right? Anyways, here’s the latest U.S. trailer for director Timo Vuorensola’s “Iron Sky”, which dares to posit the question, “What would happen if Nazis, who have been living on the moon for the last 70 years, decided to launch a new invasion of Earth?” Apparently a Sarah Palin clone saves the day, though I’m sure that won’t prevent the film from mocking her to death in the process anyway.
In the last moments of World War II, a secret Nazi space program evaded destruction by fleeing to the Dark Side of the Moon. During 70 years of utter secrecy, the Nazis construct a gigantic space fortress with a massive armada of flying saucers…and now they’re coming back to claim Earth for their own. Two Nazi officers, ruthless Klaus Adler (Götz Otto) and idealistic Renate Richter (Julia Dietze), travel to Earth to prepare the invasion. In the end, when the Moon Nazi UFO armada darkens the skies, ready to strike at the unprepared Earth, every man, woman and nation alike, must re-evaluate their priorities.
The movie stars Julia Dietze, Gotz Otto, Christopher Kirby, Peta Sergeant and Udo Kier.
If you want to see the film in a movie screen near you, you can request a screening over at TUGG. Apparently if enough of you make the request, you might get it. Or you can just buy it on DVD/Blu-ray, which would be much easier, and cheaper.
