New Chinese Sci-Fi Flick ‘Entire City on Red Alert’ Announced

Niice! I’ve been looking forward to seeing some more sci-fi projects to come out of China. To be honest I’ve been getting tired of the epic period pieces, so this news comes as a nice breath of fresh air. I like fresh air. I also like sci-fi, so it’s all good.

To be directed by Benny Chan (Invisible Target) the movie will have a budget of about 100 million yuan (that’s little over 14.5 mil US) and will involve such science fiction mainstays as superhuman abilities and paranormal phenomena. Kung-Fu buffs need not worry as director Benny Chan intends on making sure there will be plenty of that distinctly Chinese martial art on display. This might be the Matrix of the East, who knows! Shooting will begin next year but keep an eye on this space as we’ll be following this one closely.
