Remember when we didn’t have a black President? Back then, it was considered “cutting edge” casting black actors as the President in movies and TV shows. Now that we actually have a black President in real life, shouldn’t we move on? Here’s a thought: I’d like to see an Asian President. You never see an Asian President on TV or in the movies. Just a thought, Hollywood — get with the times.
Anyways, there are more talk about an “Independence Day” sequel — or to be more specific, two “ID4″ sequels. Previously, director Roland Emmerich had hinted that he would like to do two more sequels to the first movie, which would pick up about 10 years after the alien invasion, with Will Smith’s jet fighter pilot now President, and alien tech having effected the planet. Of course, Emmerich said that a while back, but nothing has come from it yet.
Here’s what “ID4″ star Bill Pullman, who played the President in the first movie, had to say when MTV recently caught up to him:
It would be a challenge, just creatively with the studio, how much money it would take to make it, whether Will would come and do it and what the story would be.
Okay, not a whole lot there, but he does sound like he doesn’t think it would happen. Of course, the only person who NEEDS to come back for the sequel is Will Smith. Pullman’s Prez character is pretty much superfluous.
And I don’t see Smith coming back. Then again, I didn’t see him doing three “Men in Black” movies, too, but he’s gonna.
