Yesterday came news that Robert Rodriguez was writing and directing a sci-fi thriller called “Nerverackers” for The Weinstein Company. Today, more details about the movie have surfaced thanks to an official press release by The Weinstein Company that explains more of the movie’s plot. First of all, “Nerverackers” is just “Nerveracker”, minus the “s”.
More from the press release (via FirstShowing):
“This is one of those projects that we dreamed about making for years, and now the timing is right to finally do it,” Rodriguez says. “Bob [Weinstein] has always been encouraging and shown genuine excitement for my ideas…”
“[And] that gets me pumped to make them realities.” Nerveracker is set in the year 2085 and centers on the character Joe Tezca, part of an elite unit who is sent in to stop a crime wave amongst a perfect futuristic society. In the process, he discovers that “Nerverackers” are on a rampage for control of the city. Tezca consequently sets forth on a mission to reveal the cover up by the ruling class and stop the “Nerverackers” before time runs out.
So I guess this won’t be another movie that Rodriguez is attached to, only to fall by the wayside. Maybe this will also keep him from messing around with the Predator franchise, as rumored…
The nerverackers are due to shatter nerves April 16, 2010.
Below: “That’s right, Rodriguez, stay away if you know what’s good for you.”
