More Chronicles of Riddick on the Way?

“Pitch Black” was brilliant, but “The Chronicles of Riddick” was too big and unwieldy and too ambitious. But as a straight sci-fi action film, it was still pretty good. So what about those two “Chronicles of Riddick” sequels we’ve been hearing about? You know, the final two parts of that trilogy star Vin Diesel and writer/director David Twohy have been dying to make?

They’re probably dead, but today via CinemaBlend, game designer Ian Stevens gives us hope that they’re not completely buried:

Over at TheGameReviews.com, they’ve been talking to Ian Stevens, one of the developers of the Chronicles of Riddick videogames. During their conversation he dropped this brief, offhand comment: “new Riddick films are in the works”.

Yeah, unfortunately it’s pretty much an offhand comment that one can’t really take too seriously. Maybe he heard it was official, or maybe he heard someone mention it in the hallway one day. Who knows. But man, I sure would have liked to see a couple of more Riddick movies, just minus the guys in shiny medieval armor and that whole Underverse thing. What the hell was all that gibberish about again?

Meanwhile, fans of the franchise can look forward to the release of “The Chronicles of Riddick: Assault on Dark Athena”, the second installment in the Riddick games being released next month.
