Moons Duncan Jones Talks About His Next Sci-Fi Epic

“Moon”, the story of a lonely guy on a long stay on our favorite orbiting body, is finally making it’s way to more theatres around North America. Duncan Jones is ready for his next directorial triumph and as we have reported, his next project will be the film “Mute”. We now have some story details on what may be a Sci-Fi film with some tasty Blade Runner in it. Duncan spoke to Empire about the project.

“There’s a connection with Blade Runner, but I’ve got some ideas that’ll give it its own signature character. It’s set in a future Berlin which may look like a German version of Blade Runner’s Los Angeles, but with a European sensibility.”

Mute will tell the story of a bartender that gets kidnapped while looking for his missing girlfriend. Saying that your next film will have a Blade Runner thing going for it is popular these days. Robert Rodriquez is currently hyping the Blade Runner flavour for one of next projects, “Nerverakers”. Blade Runner was an old school effort that refused to give up style or substance and like in Duncan’s “Moon” managed to use actual real world things to develop a mood. If anyone can give us a Blade Runner feel besides Ridley, it may be Duncan Jones. Go on over to Empire to watch their video interview with Mr. Jones.
