I’m not easily seduced by tech gear and gadgets anymore. I’ve been there, I’ve bought it. Sure, I have a nice computer and a shiny iPhone, but what I want out of my gear these days is true utility. I need gadgets to go with me and seemlessly be of practical use.
Minority Report (a good movie) is mostly famous for Tom’s use of the hand gesture recognizing system in the film. The gesture interface was awesome to say the least. I could see me using it in my home or at work. Once again though, it is limited in utility. I need to be able to go places and not be tethered. I have seen enough of my basement, believe me.
And so, we come to the device called Sixth Sense. It is just about the most amazing piece of gear I have ever seen. It’s Minority Report on the go, interacting with your world in your way. It’s also not vapour ware. It’s just about ready to go. The device was shown off at TED, your gateway to reams of various coolness. Watch the whole video, see the device in action at about the 3:00 minute mark if you want to skip the intro. Don’t skip the intro. Thanks Gizmodo.
