Men in Black 3 is Defintely Moving Forward

Men in Black 3 Movie, Sci-Fi Movie News — By Nix on October 29, 2009

We’ve known that Sony wants to make another “Men in Black” movie since April, but we haven’t really heard anything concrete about the movie since. That change today, with word that Sony has already hired “Tropic Thunder” writer Etan Cohen to pen the sequel and that he’s already deep into his draft, and that director Barry Sonnenfeld, who directed the franchise’s first two movies, is already attached to return.

Now the big question is, will Will Smith return? Smith was already a big star in 2002 when they made “Men in Black 2″, but he’s an even bigger star in 2009, so how much is it going to cost? Word is that there is buzz Smith is looking to return for part three, but even if you got him back, you’d still need to convince the other half of the men in black, Tommy Lee Jones. Unlike Smith, who could probably be convinced back with the promise of a hefty paycheck, I’m not sure if Jones is that brutally commercial. Of course, I don’t know the man, and he might come back just for the “fun” of the franchise. Hey, it’s entirely possible.

But being that the “Men in Black” franchise is a guaranteed moneymaker, I don’t see how Sony could resist giving both Smith and Jones the bank to return. Why, you ask? Because the first two films combined to make $1.1 billion worldwide. That’s $1.1 billion. With, you know, a “b”?

Yeah.

Did I say no anal probes? I might have lied there, sorry.
