Here’s a little odds and ends about the biggest moneymaker of all time, James Cameron’s “Avatar”. The LATimes has a “what if” article that says, according to Cameron himself, before he gave the role to Sam Worthington in “Avatar”, he actually offered Jake Sully up to Matt Damon and Jake Gyllenhaal first, but both men turned him down.
“I don’t think they ever had a problem with the CG, “ Cameron said. “Honestly, did I go out and try to woo them? No. I had my heart set on Sam. Maybe they sensed my lack of 100% commitment from me. Maybe it was the subject matter. This was a big ‘Star Wars’-type movie. They’re both serious actors.”
Huh. An “Avatar” movie with Matt Damon or Jake Gyllenhaal? Hard to imagine now, but that’s how it usually is in Hollywood. If you go back and look at all the big hits, there are always stories about how this A-lister or that turned down down a film that eventually became a mega hit.
Best of all? The LA Times has this pic of Cameron as a Na’vi.
