Martin Campbell’s Blake’s 7 Reboot Lands at Syfy Channel
Nix August 21, 2012Well, this is kind of anti-climactic. Last we heard, feature film director Martin Campbell was shopping around a planned reboot of the cult British sci-fi show “Blake’s 7″. That shopping is now over, with the show having landed at … the Syfy Channel. Where else would it land?
The cable network will develop the new show, with Joe Pokaski (“Heroes”) set to write the pilot script, and Campbell directing if Syfy greenlights the show for a a 13-episode first season.
Originally created by Terry Nation, “Blake’s 7″ is centered around hard-core renegades and criminals who escape from a prison planet only to find themselves becoming intergalactic heroes.
The original was a pretty funky little show, without a whole lot of special effects or big budgets. The reboot, obviously, isn’t going to be that way. Going the nostalgia route isn’t going to get you anywhere in today’s TVland.
