Mark Verheiden to Write Quartermain for DreamWorks

Quartermain Movie, Sci-Fi Movie News — By Nix on February 25, 2009

What is “Quartermain”? No idea. And apparently not a lot of people know what it is, either, although The Hollywood Reporter does know that genre fave Mark Verheiden has been hired to pen the original screenplay for DreamWorks. The film is described as a “sci-fi adventure”, so that makes it right up our alley.

THR has more on the project’s background, though not necessarily more on the project itself:

The sci-fi adventure springs from an original idea, though no plot details are available. Holly Bario and Jonathan Eirich are overseeing the project for the studio.

“Quartermain” is one of the 17 projects DreamWorks developed then paid to take with it when it left the Paramount fold last year. Paramount retains the right to co-finance and co-distribu

Genre fans should know Mark Verheiden’s name by now. Besides producing and writing shows like Heroes, Smallville, and Battlestar Galactica, he’s also penned the movies “Timecop” and “The Mask”. He also wrote the underappreciated “Timecop” sequel starring Jason Scott Lee, which I thought was a pretty decent sci-fi adventure yarn myself.
