Low Ratings Lead to Second Jericho Cancellation?

Jericho TV Series, Sci-Fi TV News — By Nix on February 22, 2008

Well, you Jericho fans out there can’t say CBS didn’t give your show a chance. Networks rarely uncancel a show as it is, but they did it with Jericho after fans got riled up enough to engage in a brilliant resurrection campaign, but apparently all the publicity from that didn’t generate enough viewers, because Jericho’s Season 2 return from the abyss, starting with its first two episodes, netted well below average numbers. Result? CBS is set to cancel Jericho yet again, this time, it would appear, for good.

More:

Sources have told SyFy Portal that CBS is gearing up to air the series finale version of the post-apocalyptic series on March 25, one of two endings shot that would either allow a cliffhanger going into a third season, or a proper amount of closure for “Jericho” fans who fought hard to force CBS to reconsider its previous decision to cancel the show.

“There are a lot of people here who really care about what happens to ‘Jericho,’ and I think we all wanted to see it succeed,” the source, who asked not to be identified, said. “Numbers are numbers, and [CBS] had to do what [CBS] had to do.”

I guess some shows are just destined to get cancelled. I actually liked parts of Jericho, but not enough to watch beyond the first couple of episodes in Season 1. There was something about the show that just didn’t work for me.

The Season 2 return was interesting, but again, all that mumbo jumbo about conspiracies just made me roll my eyes. I have enough of conspiracies on TV (like, EVERY friggin’ show has a conspiracy, it seems), thank you very much.

networks have learned nothing. PLEASE READ WHY THE ORIGINAL STAR TREK WAS CANCELLED. THE NUMBERS WERE READ WRONG. THEY WERE ACTUALLY HITTING THE TARGET AUDIENCE.And KNOWBODY actually watches the way they used to when we had only 3 networks you could pick up on your antenna. Nielsen ratings have NOT kept up. that I BELIEVE is why most of these good shows get cancelled LONG before they should.

if they had enough smarts to put he show on a night when other big name shows are not on, ie american idol, heroes, dancing with the stars etc… then theyd have a chance….also, stop flippin story telling the whole damn thing, get o some action, there isnt any action shows out anymore, its all story telling or reality shows WHICH SUCK!!! keep it easy, smooth and as realistic as possible. youll have your fans with the right formula….storytelling puts peopel to sleep
