I haven’t seen a full episode of the Sam Raimi-produced Legend of the Seeker syndicated action-adventure show yet, although I’ve always been meaning to do so. The show has everything I usually like in my fantasy adventure, including pretty girls, tough good guys, cool magic, and swordfights. From what I’ve seen of the show, though, including a long 15-minute opening that was released a while back, it looks like a pretty well-produced, shot, and directed show, and not at all like the “kitchy” shows that Raimi used to do, ala Xena and Hercules. Anyways, according to Variety, Legend of the Seeker has gotten the greenlight for a second season.
Via Variety:
Filmed in New Zealand and based on Terry Goodkind’s “Sword of Truth” book series, “Seeker” has delivered a credible 2.0 household rating or so in its run to date. It scored a 1.6 household rating for the week ended Jan. 11.
Its two-hour preem in November posted a 2.9, indicating an appetite among viewers for the kitschy fantasy-action genre that peaked in the late 1990s with “Hercules: The Legendary Journeys” and “Xena: Warrior Princess.”
Legend of the Seeker is currently showing in syndication, which means you have to check your local showtimes for the show, because it varies from city to city, country to country. Or you can just download it from iTunes or other download avenues. It stars Bridget Regan and Craig Horner (below).
