For 3.5 million bucks. That’s just for the pitch, which basically means a couple of pages of synopsis and a guy jumping around using his hands for space stuff.
The project is called “LightSpeed” and is the creation of Terry Rossio and Bill Marsilii, two guys walking around with pretty big smiles today.
What’s it all about? Here’s the short version of the pitch.
“A young pilot who makes the Earth Interstellar Racing Team and must take his ship on a perilous journey across the galaxy on the brink of war.”
That’s it. Of course it’s going to be in 3D. Space combat “Star Wars” style in 3D could be pretty nifty. Terry Rossio’s credits include “Shrek”, the Pirates of the Caribbean films, “National Treasure”, “Little Monsters”, Aladdin”, “Godzilla”, “Small Soldiers”, and DreamWorks Animation’s “Antz”. So, all in all a mixed bag. Bill worked with Terry on the recent “Deju Vu” which I cannot remember, despite my best efforts. I’ll go Google it immediately. Via Variety.
