A lot of Jericho fans were pretty bummed when I posted the TV Guide article that Jericho had been, for the second time in its lifespan, cancelled due to low ratings (here). But guess what, Jericho fans, there’s a new reason to smile — in an interview with Sci Fi Wire, Jericho executive producer Carol Barbee says that if the show does get cancelled, she’ll be shopping it to a couple of cable TV networks, including The Sci Fi Channel.
More:
“There were other people who were interested in us to begin with, and now, I think, with the whole nuts [fan] campaign, and also with the amazing reviews that we’ve gotten for these seven episodes, I feel like we have made this franchise more valuable to a cable network who would want to take us on as a niche market,” Barbee said.
“So I think it’s very possible,” Barbee added. “We obviously have a relationship now with SCI FI Channel, because they’re running our previous episodes. So I think that’s a natural place to start looking. But I think that … there are other people who would be interested in the show if it doesn’t continue on CBS.”
I can definitely see Jericho continuing on the Sci Fi Channel, where the demands for big ratings aren’t quite as high.
CBS will continue to run the seven episodes that it’s produced for Jericho’s Season 2 so far, but it’ll decide (if it hasn’t already) on whether to continue the series or cancel it after the seventh episode, which will either be a season finale with a cliffhanger, or a series finale to close out the series.
