James Cameron Provides Some Nifty Technical Details On His Avatar

In Los Angeles, at the Aero theatre, James Cameron was in the house to give some pretty detailed technical information on his work in progress sci-fi epic “Avatar”.

I will bullet point them for your easy reading.

  • 3D will get a 1.78 aspect ratio instead of the normal. James thinks it’ll look better.
  • He is not sure if the film will make cinema history but there are some memorable scenes that made his crew say “what the fuck”
  • While he believes that the CGI effects may not be revolutionary, the ability to instantly view a rendered version of the scene will change movie making forever.
  • We will be wearing those big ass 3d glasses on our heads for some time to come.
  • He believes stereoscopic 3D is coming soon to your television.
  • On comparing him to another supposedly difficult to work with director Michael Mann: “What? Michael Mann’s a whacko.”
  • When Terminator: Salvation was in the works, James was talking to Arnold and said, “Just do me one thing – ask for more money than anyone ever has.” Arnold said, “reeeeealllly?” He said, “yes. Because what idiots would make a Terminator movie without you?”

A trailer for Avatar will be coming fairly soon I think and because we love you best here at SciFiCool, Nix and I and the rest of the fellas will be all over it. Believe it. Thanks Aintitcool for being there when James Cameron was speaking and getting his thoughts on paper. We’ll be in on that action someday soon as well.
