After months of speculation, it seems very official (though not quite yet; NBC itself is still keeping mum) that Michelle Ryan’s The Bionic Woman update has been cancelled. At least, that’s according to TV Guide, who quotes sources within the network. The only thing that’s left is for NBC to confirm it, and to be honest, it’s silly that they simply refused to, when everyone already knows it.

lthough NBC isn’t talking, I’m told by multiple sources that Bionic staffers were informed late last week that the troubled reboot has indeed been canceled. That means no spring relaunch under new show-runner Jason Cahill — which is too bad. Cahill’s a talented guy (see: The Sopranos), and I was anxious to see what he would do with the show. But I guess it wasn’t meant to be.
Eh, I don’t know how to feel about this. I watched the pilot and a couple of other episodes, but I don’t know, the show just never caught my attention. Michelle Ryan, the star, was certainly sexy and convincing enough as a bionic spy/operator, but she just didn’t have that — I don’t know what you would call it — Jennifer Garner-esque spark that, well, Jennifer Garner had in Alias, that made you immediately sit up and take notice.
The best thing about the Bionic Woman, actually, wasn’t even the star, but recurring co-star Katee Sackhoff as the original bionic woman.
Oh well. It was kinda okay while it lasted.
