Updated: MTV says there is no truth to the rumor of Arterton meeting with Scott. Goes to show you, reporting what UK tabloids/newspapers say is the dumbest thing you can do.

So what’s the word on Ridley Scott’s impending “nasty and tough” new “Alien” prequel movie? Word is, British lass Gemma Arterton is planning on meeting with Scott for possibly the female lead.
The Playlist reports:
[Arterton] is set to have a very early meeting for one of the most high profile projects around: Ridley Scott’s “Alien” prequels. Arterton says “Ridley Scott saw ‘Alice Creed’ and loved it. He wants me to meet for Aliens: The Remake, or something.” While it’s obviously early stages, (and Arterton doesn’t seem particularly keen on the project) it at least gives an idea of the kind of casting Scott’s going for.
Gemma Arterton got her big start as one of Daniel Craig’s Bond girls, and has parlayed that minor role into a series of big-budget Hollywood female leads, including “Clash of the Titans” and “Prince of Persia”. She hasn’t exactly shined in any of those movies, but in her defense, the scripts for those films didn’t exactly allow for much “shining” from the female roles.
So Gemma in an “Alien” prequel? Interesting, but I thought the movies were going to focus on the Space Jockeys. How’s a cute British girl gonna fit into all of that?
