SGU = Some Gay Universe

There is a reason why stuff like doors and mugs maintained the same basic shape over thousands of years:
They just work.

And SGU doesn't work. because someone in a board room decided he has to prove himself by being totally different and killed SGA.

I still had hope after ep1 and ep2, but after watching ep3, that hope is gone.

No matter how you spin it, there is just an aura of gayness surrounding SGU.

I've looked everywhere and the only defence the supporters of SGU can come up with is "they're trying something new"

LOL, the problem was never "trying something new", the problem is they killed SGA so they can use try this piece of crap attacged to the stargate brand.

This is the equvalent of FIFA changing the football rules, forbid running and allow players to use their hands at all times in the next worldcup.

There's nothing wrong with the rules themselves, but if you destroy what was good and replace it with something totally lame, you will be ridiculed.

SGU is now the offical soap opera for gay and lesbians.

I've looked everywhere and the only defence the supporters of SGU can come up with is “they're trying something new”

LOL, the problem was never “trying something new”, the problem is they killed SGA so they can use try this piece of crap attacged to the stargate brand.

This is the equvalent of FIFA changing the football rules, forbid running and allow players to use their hands at all times in the next worldcup.

They kinda ran out of a storyline for SG:1 and SG:A. SG:U is definitely not going to be as good as SG:1, but then again, neither was SG:A.
Even though the main plot has already been tested (Star Trek: Voyager), it still has potential.

STARGATE UNIVERSE; SyFy Soap, lathered up with with adolesent drama in an attempt to create charcter development with an incongruous plot line. Maybe it will slip through the cracks. If I can get the soap out of my eyes ..... I did like the casting, they have talent, let us hope it is not wasted.

I had come to fear this exact situation when SG1 announced its finale. The same gut tells me that this is a test. A misdirection, and nothing is concrete yet. In this day, at least a standby page with intriguing splash art is up. I plan to at least give the pilot season a chance.

I'm willing to take a "wait-and-See" attitude about this. The bottom line is that it's not the age, gender or ethnicity of the actors that makes or breaks a show; it's the chemistry of the people and the quality of the writing.

On another note, I don't doubt that there are a LOT of considerations that went into the concept for the show, which includes the casting. Specifically, I think one very real consideration for the cast was age; or a very practical byproduct of aging. Watch Emancipation from SG1's First Season and then watch The Shroud from SG1's last. While the chemistry that developed was showcased brilliantly in the scene where Jack shows up to speak with Ori Daniel, the MILEAGE on these people is astonishing. Actors age, and it creates problems for Producers & Directors, not to mention writers.

Finally, I think a lot of people are missing an important point. The producers have created something fairly unusual in TV Land. Ironically, the only other show I can think of that ever did this was Star Trek, although SG-X did it much better. Basically, I'm referring to the "Permanent Series" aspect of SG-X. Whenever a series gets long in the tooth, they simply take the same Canon and build a new show around it. SG-X could, if SG-U goes well; mark only the third in a more or less permanent storyline.

When I think about the possibilities this opens up, I find myself feeling very optimistic.

Why would I want to trade an exciting Stargate Atlantis for Stargate Teeny Bopper. P-l-e-a-s-e I'm devastated. It has been my escape since the beginning. Please I want all my characters back.

Watched the final episode tonight. Felt a sense of melencoly as I watched the credits role at the end. It was a great finale. Atlantis on earth....that alone is enough for a new series. Certainly new materials for more seasons. I hate that the series has ended. I want it back. I need my escapism with familiar and likable characters. I liked these people, they were my friends, I looked forward to seeing them every Friday. They were all strong characters. Inspiring and amusing. Hero's. We need hero's. Even if they are fanciful characters. I'm not simply a viewer, I 'm a participant, an unseen member of the team. I have a full and rewarding life in reality but my Friday night trip through the stargate was my icing on the cake. I will miss it. I want it back.

The character profiles I’ve read for this new Stargate Universe show doesn’t make a lot of sense! The 2 series always had a high standard for the type people they would even let go through the gate,. The profile of characters for this new show doesn’t sound like the type of people that would even be told of the existence of he gate much less be allowed to go through it!! Keep Atlantis just in case this show bombs. By the way Earth now has ships capable of extermley fast Hyper-Space speeds, just as fast as anything the Ancyents had according to the Atlantis series. If needed be we could send our own rescue mission with these ships.
Give the young audiences a cartoon version and leave the adults their show.

I personally think that it is a foolish mistake on MGM’s part to make a new Stargate series based on a ship, in the middle of no-where, with no way to get home.

In this regard, it reminds me of another show named Star Trek: Voyager in which the crew travels in a ship, out in some cloud, get’s shifted thousands of light years away from their home world, and is now stranded in another quadrant, as they call it, of the galaxy. The same concept is there with SG: U in which this band of explorers get’s marooned on a Star Ship in the middle of no-man’s land, has to travel the galaxy meeting new races, like Voyager did, trying to get home.

The idea is not fresh and I expect that if they don’t try to re-introduce this series in a different concept, it’ll only get poor ratings down the line with its pilot episode probably receiving the highest of ratings for the series. I personally am ashamed that both SG:1 and SG:A were canceled, only to be replaced with SG:U.

I realize that change is not always the warmest of welcomes, especially when something like SG:1 has been running for nine years now, but if you’re going to make a transition to a new series, come up with something a lot fresher than a remake of another Sci Fi series.
