Immortality Blows in Lionsgate’s When First We Were Gods

Nix October 30, 2012

Immortality is apparently not all it’s cracked up to be, especially in Lionsgate’s new sci-fi flick “When First We Were Gods”, which has now found itself a writer and director.

“When First We Were Gods” will be adapted by Aron Eli Coleite from the short story by Rick Yancey, with commercial director Daniel Askill set to make his feature-film directorial debut on the property for Lionsgate.

So what’s it all about?

In the short story, humanity has achieved immortality, but it is only available to an extraordinarily wealthy elite. While it is very common for people in the elite to marry and divorce, a man conspires to murder his immortal wife so that his mortal mistress can take her place — thus her immortality. Along the way comes the realization that mortality may well render the experience of love impossible.

They should call it, “Just Like That Movie In Time with Justin Timberlake, Except Not Shitty.” I’d see that.

Anyways, immortality or love? I guess it depends on what the girl looks like, but then again, I’m shallow that way. It would be a much easier choice if she looked like this little lady:

Kate Upton
