Hunger Games Sequel Gets Writer, New Pic
Nix January 19, 2012Hard to believe, but yes, “Hunger Games” fans, the first movie based on the Suzanne Collins trilogy of novels will be heading to a theater near you in March. Until then, check out a new image (above) and this news that a writer has officially been hired to pen the second film in the series, “Catching Fire”.
Simon Beaufoy, best known for writing (and winning an Oscar for) Danny Boyle’s “Slumdog Millionaire” will be adapting “Catching Fire” for director Gary Ross, who will also continue on the franchise and direct the sequel, though no word if he’ll also do the third and final film, “Mockingjay”.
Let’s face it, there will be a second and third movie. I just don’t see the film not being one of 2012′s big hits, even with “The Avengers” and “The Dark Knight Rises” also opening in the year. “The Hunger Games” will get in there and get out before those films can trample everyone else at the box office.
