Hugh Jackman Gets into Comics with Nowhere Man
Comic Book News, Sci-Fi Movie News — By Nix on March 25, 2008
You know, to be perfectly honest with you, I’m not sure how I feel about the whole premise of Virgin Comics — it’s a comic imprint started with the singular purpose of turning their comic book properties into movies or TV shows. The only series they’ve done that I thought was any good was John Woo’s “Seven Brothers”. For the most part, I find their tunnel-like vision of making comics simply to turn them into movies to be a little insulting to comic book readers. Anyhoo, maybe I’m just projecting. The latest news from the world of comics is that Hugh Jackman will be creating a new series called “Nowhere Man” with the express notion of making a movie out of it in the future.
More:
Story was being kept under wraps, but Jackson’s Seed Productions partner John Palermo said it features a protagonist reminiscent of the one Will Smith played in “I Am Legend.” The concept is a futuristic world where mankind has traded privacy for safety, a premise that sprouted with Seed, Virgin CEO Sharad Devarajan and chief creative officer Gotham Chopra.
Eh. It sounds like a decent enough idea for a comic book/movie, but you know, I still don’t know how I really feel about Virgin Comics…

What a terrific blast from the past! I still have ALL of my NOWHERE MAN comics and would love to see Jackman spread his collective comic book wings and take it on. This and several of those other “off the cuff” launches were outstanding stuff when they were originally created.
Anyone else an ALPHA FLIGHT Fan, by the way>
