Hobby Bot Maker Stumbles On The Missing Link To Humankinds Eventual Doom

Sci-Fi Odds and Ends, Sci-Fi Tech, Sci-Fi Videos — By endymi0n on November 26, 2009

I always knew it would be some dude in his basement that makes the giant leap, or horrible error, that leads us all down the garden path to the day that we live scattered like mice, running pell mell through the rusty wreckage of our once towering society as the robots come a huntin.

There’s this guy called Xdream (not his real name) and he’s been beavering away at home with Mom getting ready for the Mech Warfare, bot on bot event at Robogames 2010. As he was soldiering this little droid called X-Brat together, I’m sure he had no idea what little extra something he was injecting into the A.I. of the Brat. That little something turns out to be enthusiasm. Enthusiasm and desire. X-Brat doesn’t just lock onto it’s target in an efficient and coldly programmed way. No, X-Brat will lock onto you (if you is a little pink stick) and drop the hammer on you with the excitement of Dad on a drumstick. Munch, munch. You have to see it to believe it. This feature, whatever it is, will soon be standard in all hunter drones and bots of armies everywhere. Look on this video and despair. At about 35 seconds into the video there’s a telling little moment where the pink thing is no longer on the box, but the bot fires anyway, eagerly blasting away it’s Bee-Bee at it’s makers exposed fingers. Those fingers aren’t really pink Mr. Roboto! See also the hilarious moment at the end where the death bot loses it’s will to live when it no longer has the ammo to finish it’s pink blasting. Thanks Botjunkie.
