Here’s One Reason to See the Re-Released Star Wars Films in 3D: Free Darth Maul 3D Glasses

Chances are, I’m not seeing the “Star Wars” films when they’re re-released in theaters in 3D, staring with the first movie “Star Wars: Episode I — The Phantom Menace” on February 10th. No offense, but I got the whole “You need to see ‘Star Wars’ in theaters at least once!” kick out of my system when Georgie re-released them into theaters the first time around.
But in case you are thinking about handing over more of your money, Lucas is pulling out some very special gimmicks to get fans back into theaters for his latest cash grab super duper great re-invention of the franchise. There are some very cool special offers, giveaways, and various fanboy stuff being handed out — details below (via LATimes):
* At all RealD theaters, the Darth Maul glasses you see above will be handed out (while supplies last) to fans who buy tickets on the movie’s opening day.
* At all AMC Theaters, fans will get the all-new Hasbro “Star Wars” Fighter Pod with the purchase of each RealD 3-D ticket for “Episode I,” all weekend long, Feb. 10-12. The limit is one per ticket and the offer is good only while supplies last.
* At 10 select AMC theaters in the U.S., starting at 11 a.m. Feb. 11, there will be special events, interactive fun and giveaways. At those sites, fans can expect a Lego feature area, Darth Maul face painting, character appearances, special pod-racer 3-D glasses, a demonstration of the upcoming Xbox Kinnect “Star Wars” game and a Hasbro collectible toy giveaway.
