Has Robotech Drafted an Actual Writer? And is his name Lawrence Kasdan?

Yeah, I’ll admit, the idea of a Robotech live-action movie gets me into all kinds of good mood. The kind where I run around and punch babies, and when their mom complains, giving them a nice pinch on the bottom. Yup, that kind of good mood. To add further to my good mood, here’s a rumor that Lawrence Kasdan, renown writer of “Raiders of the Lost Ark” and “The Empire Strikes Back”, among many, many others (he also wrote and directed “Silverado”, one of the best cinematic Westerns out there), has been drafted to pen Tobey Maguire’s “Robotech”.

Someone at CHUD knows a guy who knows a guy that tells them that Kasdan has been given scripting duties on “Robotech”. They aren’t confirming it, it’s just what someone told them. Obviously this may not end up being true, or just what it is — a rumor.

But you know what? That’s not going to stop me from running around punching babies. Watch out, babies!

The Hollywood Reporter has officially confirmed that Kasdan has been hired to write the project.

    If for some wild reason, this Robotech works out, I hope it involves Rick Hunter, Lisa Hayes, Lynn Minmei and Kyle.. and Max.. ok ok… just a crazy thought. I thought Rick and Lisa were a better pair than Minmei! HowevernI hope Toynami, and Yamato might create 1/40 scale transformable robot toys. Perhaps do a wild crossovernwith the Transformers! Since the Autobots are outnumbered in robot defense, why not merge Robotech as a ndeclassified project built to help defend earth against the decepticons and help the autobots? Since its a far nwild stretch, why not allow humans to create transformable vehicles under human control to combat evilndecepticons who threaten human existence! :) Nah, nobody would go for it….. stupid idea!
