Goyer’s Flash Forward Casting
Movie writer/director David Goyer’s stab at sci-fi TV, the intriguing sounding Flash Forward, has hired its first two actors — Courtney B. Vance (pictured, left) and Jack Davenport (pictured, below), according to Sci Fi Wire. Vance will play Stan Wedeck, the Los Angeles bureau chief of the FBI. Davenport will play Lloyd Simcoe, who is trapped in Northern California when the event occurs and struggles to reach his son in a Southland hospital.
To refresh your memory, here’s what Flash Forwad is about:
Flash Forward–from David S. Goyer, Brannon Braga and ABC Studios–is based on Robert J. Sawyer’s SF novel and chronicles the chaos that ensues after everyone in the world blacks out for 2 minutes and 17 seconds and has a mysterious vision of the future that changes lives forever.
Exactly 2 minutes and 17 seconds? My guess is that there’s a reason for that number.
Goyer is a big time movie writer and director, responsible for the “Blade” movies and the Christopher Nolan “Batman Begins” franchise. Brannon Braga, meanwhile, most recently produced Threshold, one of my favorite sci-fi shows that never got much of a chance. Let’s hope their Flash Forward fares better, although putting it after Lost will certainly help, as the fractured premise sorta feels familiar.
