Glover, Newton Join Emmerich’s 2012

It looks like Roland Emmerich is diving head-first into the end of the world with his new movie “2012″. Coming on the heels of the recent casting announcements that John Cusack and Chiwetel Ejiofor have joined the cast, three more names have been added. Danny Glover (pictured left, “Lethal Weapon”), Thandie Newton (”The Chronicles of Riddick”), and Oliver Platt are all currently in negotiations to join the project.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, all three actors will be playing characters in the White Horse, with Glover as the President of the United States, Newton (pictured, below) as his daughter, and Platt as his Chief of Staff. What, they couldn’t get Morgan Freeman for POTUS?
The script for “2012″ is by Emmerich and his “10,000 BC” co-writer Harald Kloser, and Columbia Pictures has budgeted the film for a whopping $200 million. I guess that means this thing is going to have stellar special effects, huh?
