Get Down On Your Knees You Filthy Blood Sucker……and PRAY!!

Comic Book News, Sci-Fi Reviews — By nm boliek on September 11, 2009

Jesus Saves! Don’t Laugh, I’m being serious here, the Nuclear Holy War has made Jesus a very popular guy.

What? you haven’t heard about the Nuclear Holy War ? Then you better get yourself a copy of The Loaded Bible because inside its cover is a primer for surviving the coming evils our times; Vampires. Yep, you heard me right, Vampires…Blood Suckers..inter-dimensional soul thieves.

I know I know, what has this got to do with Science Fiction you may ask? Hell, This IS Sci-Fi at the peak of it’s game! Ok, yeah maybe it does look a bit like horror but trust me it’s not, this is just too weird to be considered horror.

Tim & Steve Seeley wrote this twisted piece of….ummmm…”Enlightenment” and it rides like a rocket full of monkeys on crack. From start to finish it speeds its way through the twisted nightmare that somehow has become the semi plausible future of our America. I was shocked to find that buried inside the tightly draw panels of this book are some surprisingly BIG themes and even more surprising is the philosophical current lurking just beneath all the mayhem.

I don’t like doing total plot reveals because I think it’s better if you come to a book with an open mind- no pre-conceived notions. A lot of people didn’t give this book and it’s ideas a chance so it quickly got dismissed because they felt it just “didn’t hold up ” when in reality it held up so well it’s now sitting on a movie deal. Uh huh, Halo8 Entertainment just recently secured the rights to create an upcoming “Illustrated film” adaptation of Loaded Bible: Jesus vs Vampires.

I for one am anxious to see how this will get translated onto film.

I admit the art style in this book had to grow on me, and it took several readings for that to actually happen. I now see its merits and I have to say that Nate Bellegarde did an EXCELLENT job with getting the Seeley vision of Jesus on paper. And I love the way Jesus is portrayed here….he’s got a modern twist on the Sand & Sandal fashion of Biblical Times and a Father/Son complex that renders his humanity touchable in a way that is funny and obscure.

I strongly recommend this book to anyone that thinks the idea of a Cloned Jesus is wicked funny or just an outright blasphemy. I’m thinking of sending a set to Tammy Faye Baker and The Pope for Christmas…..they might want take a look into this Jesus cloning idea, Might just come in handy real soon. I swear to you the Loaded Bible is THE handbook for End Times if ever there were one.

Now go grab your Chalice and let the blood flow begin!!

Available from Image Comics:

Loaded Bible Jesus Vs Vampires February 2006
Loaded Bible 2 Blood of Christ May 2007
Loaded Bible Communion February 2008

* at the moment these are an easy find but I speculate as word gets out about the upcoming film they may get harder to find, hunt the back issue bins or visit an auction site for a good deal. All three can be had in Graphic Novel form if that’s more your style.

Love the article, and only you might have an address to where Tammy Faye is now, since she passed from this earth on 7/16/07. I've got the Vatican on spead dial if you need it, just ask.:-)
