Garrett Hedlund is Tron 2’s Leading Man

Sci-Fi Movie News, Tron 2: Legacy (2011) Movie — By Nix on January 7, 2009

Looks like Joseph Kosinski’s sequel (it is a sequel, right?) to “Tron” is moving forward full steam, with The Hollywood Reporter announcing that Disney has found its leading man in Garrett Hedlund, a newcomer who has played supporting roles in “Four Brothers”, “Troy”, and “Eragon”. He’ll be joining Jeff Bridges, who is supposed to reprise his role from the original, alongside gorgeous gals Olivia Wilde and Beau Garrett. And oh yes, Bruce Boxleitner of Babylon 5 fame is also part of the show again.

More on Hedlun’s role in the sequel, as well as Bridges’:

Hedlund will play the lead, a man who finds himself pulled into the world of a computer and retracing the steps of a character from the original movie named Kevin Flynn.

Jeff Bridges is reprising the role of Flynn, who was a computer programmer but ended up as the CEO of a software corporation. Olivia Wilde and Beau Garrett have also been cast in the project, which was known as “Tron 2″ and “Tr2n” but it now going with the simple “Tron.”

I’m really not sure why they’re just going with “Tron”, minus the “2″ or the retarded “Tr2n”. Even that retarded title is better than just calling it “Tron”, which is bound to confuse a hell of a lot of people, not to mention not making any sense if they’re saying this is a sequel.

Anyways. Expect “Tron 2″ in 2011.

Below: As usual, Hollywood has no idea what real computer programmers look like.
