Warner Bros. has snapped up the rights to “Samson”, a future-set retelling of the old Samson and Delilah tale, with Francis Lawrence directing and Scott Silver handling scripting duties. If you know the name Francis Lawrence, then you know this has the makings of a pretty good movie. Besides “I am Legend”, Lawrence also directed the comic book movie “Constantine” with Keanu Reeves. Basically, the guy knows how to handle big budgeted movies and spectacle, and if nothing else, “Samson” will be spectacular to look at.
More from Variety:
“Samson” gives a futuristic twist to the story of the biblical strongman who was invincible until he was betrayed by Delilah, to whom he entrusted the secret that his strength came from his long hair.
Not a whole lot of story there except what we already know about the tale, so we’ll just have to wait for more information on the movie’s actual plot as the production starts up. And considering the seven-figure upfront deal that Warner Bros. just shelled out to get the property, that will probably be very soon.
