Fox Announces a Special Limited Edition of Alex Proyas’ I, Robot on Blu-ray This October
Nix July 11, 2012I’m not the biggest fan of Alex Proyas’ “I, Robot”, and I’m pretty much a fan of most things Proyas does, from “The Crow” to “Dark City” to even a little known indie film called “Garage Days” that he did back in his native Australia. “Garage Days” isn’t sci-fi, but it’s pretty rad, I recommend you check it out anyway.
But if you happen to be a fan of Proyas’ “I, Robot”, starring Will “Big Willy” Smith and Bridget “The Former Mrs. Tom Brady” Moynahan, then you’re in luck, because Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment has plans to re-release the film on Blu-ray (a 2008 version is already floating out there). I’m guessing the new Blu-ray release will be, you know, new and such. But perhaps the big news is that geeks attending Comic Con this week will be able to order a groovy Special Limited Edition Collectibles version of the Blu-ray featuring an “I, Robot” head that, we’re told, was “inspired by the film and jam-packed with goodies for robots and humans alike”.
The serialized collector’s item is only limited to 250 units, and you’ll only be able to pre-order it at the Fox booth at Comic Con for $99.99. Wow. That’s almost $100 smackeroos. I guess you better be a pretty damn big fan of “I, Robot” then, huh?
By the way, here’s the trailer for “I, Robot” in case you’ve forgotten what the movie is all about. It has been 8 years, after all. In Internet time, that’s like, what, 40 years? The film co-stars a whelp of a Shia LaBeouf, by the by.
