First Stargate Atlantis DVD Movie Will be Called Extinction

You know I love me my Stargate. Sure, most people find it kind of bland and a little by-the-numbers, but maybe that’s just what I want in my daily dose of sci-fi TV. There are plenty of new and hipper sci-fi out there, but give me a nice, new Stargate episode once a week, and I’m a happy camper. So with Stargate: Atlantis now gone to make way for Stargate: Universe, what’s the deal with the Atlantis direct-to-DVD original movies we’ve been promised? We still have no idea what they’ll be about, but at least now we know what the title will be — “Stargate: Extinction”.

The script was written by longtime Stargate producer and writer Joseph Mallozzi and Paul Mullie. No word on what the plot of the movie will be, though with a title like “Extinction”, well, it should probably involve something in danger of being extinct or such.

Says Mallozzi about the title (via Gateworld):

“It’s the working title,” Mallozzi added, “but I kind of like it because a) it’s story appropriate, b) a dynamic title, and most importantly c) not ‘Dark Gambit.’”

Well that clears it up.

My opinion is that sgu is good but i have a deja vu about it, stranded very far away from home, in a ship (in atlantis it was the city) that is nearly out of energy, it maybe just me but i have a deja vu :D
