First-Person Shooter Red Faction Coming to SyFy Channel

“Red Faction” — the movie? Yup. The SyFy Channel and gamemakers THQ have teamed up to make a two-hour movie based on the first-person shooter “Red Faction”, to be called “Red Faction: Origins”. The movie will air on the cable network in March of 2011, just in time for the release of THQ’s latest “Red Faction” sequel, “Armageddon”.

The story of Red Faction: Origins follows rebel hero Alec Mason and the Mason family and is set during a period between the Red Faction Guerilla video game and Red Faction. The screenplay for Red Faction: Origins screenplay was written by Andrew Kreisberg (Warehouse 13), based on a story developed by Paul DeMeo, THQ Director, fiction development.

I’ve played the first “Red Faction” a while back, and as I recall, it was a pretty fun game. Haven’t played any of the sequels, though.
