No, not really, Ry. I mean thats only a temporary suit. The red cape the blue suit will come sooner or later.nTen long years, he has worked hard in building his character and I'm a huge Superman fan all my life and always will be. The tenth and final season's coming and and Tom Welling has the most experience and ability to embody the character and it would do justice for Tom and to many Smallville and Superman fans alike and that Warner brother and the future producer director should realize that. He has proven that he is capable for the part time after time, season after season and he deserves more credit than what people have given him. He would make a great He even said it himself he's always been open to it. He'd make a great Superman of the today's generation and he has earned the right to be given a chance for the part.

This looks awful. How Stupid.

I can see this as a plot by Lex Luthor to destroy what Superman stands for.

"Let's see. Superman's costume is blue, red and yellow, so we could run with that or...we could throw away the established, and completely destroy it. Yes, let's do that. I say...Black. Lot's of black, and I GUESS we can keep the chest thing...It's lame red though... Let's make it black...No, that wouldn't show up, what shows up on black? Silver? okay silver it is. Yeah. Yeeeaaahhh... Let's make Superman look like some stupid Biker and then what he stands for will be completely destroyed. Perfect."

Although I'm a fan of the superhero genre - our modern mythology - even when I was a kid I thought the costumes were corny. And, forgive the nerd-out, not to mention incredibly impractical. In the real world Superman's cape would wrap around his head and is hardly aerodynamic (although I guess a superhero would need to worry too much about aerodynamics).

Suspending disbelief for a moment, what outfit would a 'real-world' superhero wear? I can see the need to conceal your identity, so a mask or helmet isn't as silly as it seems. And if you're in flight, a body-fitting streamlined jumpsuit would be practical.

So the outfit in the pics above is a bit silly. But here, we are talking about Superman. And the 'underpants on the outside' look of the original has had its day. So purists, eat my super-shorts! ;)
