First Hand Account Of Avatar Screening
Avatar (2009) Movie, Sci-Fi Movie News — By endymi0n on July 24, 2009From Comic-Con in San Diego comes the best first hand account of the preview footage from James Cameron’s Magnum Opus “Avatar” that I have seen. We Sci-Fi types are earnest but also somewhat jaded. It’s rare to see so many accounts of viewers proclaiming that “Avatar” is different. Different and awesome. Io9, the heralds of this account, have seen some serious Sci-Fi in their times. Here’s a quote from their adventures.
Jake retrieves his stick from a pool of water and suddenly notices the bioluminescent beauty of Pandora. I cannot overstate how incredible this looks — the plants are a spectacle of greens, blues, pinks, and purples without being the slightest bit gaudy. Some of the plants look like jungle flowers, others like hanging butterfly wings. Whenever Jake touches anything, the glowing vegetation ripples and pulses. Even his freckles glow green.
Slide on over to Io9 for the complete account. Nix, our fearless leader, tried desperately to make it into the screening himself but only made it in to see the last five minutes of the panel. He was grievously wounded in his attempt I’m sure. Nix is hard core. A trailer for Avatar is being constructed I’m sure. The second it lands. You’ll see it here.
