First District 9 Poster

Neill Blomkamp’s “District 9″ was shown in front of “Star Trek”, and it actually looks a lot better on the big screen. There’s something grainy and cheap about the film when you see it in commercials on the net, but it actually fills out the screen pretty well in the theaters. There’s a sense of “grungy epic”, I guess you can call it about the movie, where there’s this huge, seamless CGI ship floating in the air as helicopters buzz around it. Great shot. Anyways, here’s the first poster from Neill Blomkamp’s sci-fi movie, about aliens becoming refugees in South Africa. It’s being “presented” by “Lord of the Rings” mastermind Peter Jackson, whose name figures prominently in the film’s advertising. “District 9″ opens August 14.
