It seems like ages ago that we last heard about Leonardo DiCaprio and Ridley Scott wanting to finally get together and make “Brave New World” already. The title is currently at Universal, and word from THR is that a screenwriter has finally been brought over to pen the draft for Scott to direct and DiCaprio to star.
More:
The director who helmed “Blade Runner” will take on one of the most highly regarded dystopian works of literature, Aldous Huxley’s “Brave New World.”
The project has been set up at Universal, where Scott will produce the project with an eye to direct. His sometimes collaborator, meanwhile, will produce with a strong eye to star.
The studio has brought on “Apocalypto” scribe Farhad Safinia to pen the script; he’s expected to begin working shortly.
THR cautions that the whole thing is still in the development hell stages, so it could all go to pieces tomorrow.
At the moment, Scott is not officially attached to direct, and DiCaprio mot officially attached to star, though both men seem to be holding out for the script, as neither one has officially attached themselves to anything beyond their current projects. That would be “Robin Hood” for Scott and Christopher Nolan’s “Inception” for DiCaprio.
Will we finally see Aldous Huxley’s version of the future on the big screen? Time will tell.
