The Syfy Channel is gearing up for their Summer premieres, which means a new (second) season of their original show “Alphas” and a fourth season of “Warehouse 13″. “Alphas”, the cable net’s “X-Men”-esque show, had a great first season, ending with a major revelation. So what’s next? Says Syfy: Season 2 picks up eight months after last year’s finale with the stage set for an explosive turn of events at the Binghamton facility (the Guantanamo of the Alpha world) that could have devastating, far-reaching consequences. Dr. Lee Rosen (Emmy Award-winner and Academy Award-nominee David Strathairn), having exposed the existence of Alphas to the unsuspecting public, finds himself discredited and imprisoned by a government desperate to cover up his revelation. The rest of the core team has disbanded and some, without Rosen’s guidance and care, have regressed to their old, destructive ways. They must now battle their individual demons in order to reunite and try to save their own. The show [...]

You probably already know that Len Wiseman’s reboot of “Total Recall” is heavily action-packed. Hey, it’s Len Wiseman, the guy who did the first two “Underworld” movies and “Live Free or Die Hard”. This guy is never going to give you a movie about a dying father and his depressed son. Unless, of course, said dying father turned out to be a vampire and the son a cyborg from the future, or some such. Anyways, check out some new images from “Total Recall”, starring Colin Farrell and Jessica Biel as asskicking rebels and Kate Beckinsale (aka Mrs. Len Wiseman) as the woman trying to stop them. Also starring Bryan Cranston, Bill Nighy, Ethan Hawke, John Cho, Bokeem Woodbine, and Will Yun Lee. Get our ass to Mars August 3, 2012.

Ready for the return of TNT’s alien invasion show “Falling Skies” yet? No? Here are four new posters to get you all ready. The second season of “Falling Skies” premieres June 17th. Be there or get anal probed. Banners and posters courtesy of EW, who also had this little bit in the article about the upcoming season: Despite the poster’s defiant taglines, showrunner Remi Aubuchon says that when the series picks up on June 17, it’s not just going to be “us versus the aliens” anymore. “I think as we get to know our enemy better, we’re going to see it’s not as black and white as we thought it was,” he says. ”There’s much more to it than we ever expected there would be and I think that will be surprising.” Promises, promises…

Honestly, I didn’t know if “Supernatural” creator Eric Kripke’s latest, “Revolution” would actually qualify as sci-fi. Usually you’d need aliens for me to consider you sci-fi. That’s just how I roll. But there seems to be enough sci-fi-y stuff going on here that I’m going to start covering it more closely. So, without further ado, check out the first 4-minute extended trailer and 3 clips from “Revolution”. Looks pretty badass to me. Our entire way of life depends on electricity. So what would happen if it just stopped working? Well, one day, like a switch turned off, the world is suddenly thrust back into the dark ages. Planes fall from the sky, hospitals shut down, and communication is impossible. And without any modern technology, who can tell us why? Now, 15 years later, life is back to what it once was long before the industrial revolution: families living in quiet cul-de-sacs, and when the sun goes down, the lanterns and [...]

The new NBC show “Revolution” has J.J. Abrams’ name all over it, but don’t let that fool ya. “Revolution” is from “Supernatural” creator Eric Kripke, and I won’t even bother speculating how much creative input Abrams actually had besides attaching his name as a producer to make advertising the show easier. Kinda like Steven Spielberg and TNT’s “Falling Skies”. The show is about a group of people struggling to survive and reunite with loved ones in a world where the all forms of energy have mysteriously disappeared. Not a bad premise, huh? NBC has already greenlit the show to series, so look for it later this year. Until then, the network has released some promo images from the upcoming first season. Starring David Lyons, Giancarlo Esposito, Billy Burke, Andrea Roth, Tim Guinee, JD Pardo, Jeff Wolfe, Tracy Spiridakos, Zak Orth, Allan Graf, Maria Howell, Graham Rogers, and Anna Lise Phillips.

I have my issues with TNT’s alien invasion show “Falling Skies”, but there is no one out there who hopes it improves from a pretty mediocre (and at times, really bad) debut season. There are so few honest to goodness sci-fi shows out there that to lose “Falling Skies” now would just really suck. With that optimism in mind, here’s a new, extended trailer for the upcoming season. It picks up right where the first season ended, with Tom Mason (Noah Wyle’s college professor turned rebel fighter) heading into the alien ship. Not a smart move, you say? Hey, man’s gotta do what a man’s gotta do. So what happens after that? Find out when the two-hour Season 2 premiere of “Falling Skies” airs June 17, 2012. The season premiere is called “World’s Apart”, in case you were wondering. And in case you missed it, here’s the first 3 minutes from Season 2 released not all that long ago:

Never heard of Armen Evrensel’s “Space Milkshake” until now? Join the club. The film looks like a big sci-fi gag, with “Sanctuary” stars Amanda Tapping and Robin Dunne playing two members of a spaceship staffed by four humans. The tagline, “We’re ducked”, is intriguing, though. Or as the very brisk official synopsis put it: Four spaceworkers on a run down orbital sanitation station run into a few problems when they salvage a strange device from space ship wreckage. Yeah, not much there. Apparently one of those “few problems” involves giant alien creatures and possibly the end of humanity as we know it. Well, except for them. The film also co-stars Kristen Kreuk (of “Smallville” fame) and Billy Boyd (of “Lord of the Rings” trilogy fame). “Space Milkshake” is due sometime in 2012. When that happens, we’re all ducked.

Is it me, or do the “Prometheus” space suits make the cast of Ridley Scott’s space explorers look like they were heavily influenced by a certain web-crawler name Spider-Man? Just wonderin’ out loud. Anyways, check out a new pic of the three main characters from Scott’s “Prometheus” on the cover of entertainment mag Entertainment Weekly. If you’re not dying to see this film, then don’t dare call yourself a sci-fi fan. “Prometheus” is the biggest sci-fi movie to come along in years in terms of scope, history, and, yes, sci-fi epicness.
