Two minute trailers? 30-second TV spots? Forget about it. McG and company are going full bore with a 4-minute trailer that reveals even more plot and new footage. Granted, a lot of the footage we’ve already seen before in various snippets and videos put out by the studio, but there’s something to be said with seeing all (or most) of them in one spot. I’m a bit concerned about the concentration on Sam Worthington’s Marcus character, though. John Connor is the star here. McG better not be trying to pull some crap by messing with the established mythology too much, that’s all I’m saying.
Also, a short clip featuring Moon Bloodgood’s character Blair taking on some hillbillies. Apparently they’re still alive after the apocalypse, go figure. And another clip featuring John Connor in a Terminator Factory rescuing a young Kyle Reese.
Set in post-apocalyptic 2018, John Connor is the man fated to lead the human resistance against Skynet and its army of Terminators. But the future Connor was raised to believe in is altered in part by the appearance of Marcus Wright, a stranger whose last memory is of being on death row. Connor must decide whether Marcus has been sent from the future, or rescued from the past. As Skynet prepares its final onslaught, Connor and Marcus both embark on an odyssey that takes them into the heart of Skynet’s operations, where they uncover the terrible secret behind the possible annihilation of mankind.
Starring Christian Bale, Sam Worthington, Anton Yelchin, Moon Bloodgood, Common, and Bryce Dallas Howard. McG directs.
