Duncan Jones is working to fund his followup to the excellent “Moon” and is apparently having some difficulties. The film is called “Mute” and was c0-written with Duncan by Mike Johnson, the writer of the upcoming Sherlock Holmes. Mr. Jones plans some juicy ode to Blade Runner vibrations in “Mute”, a story about a mute bartender in future Berlin! that goes in search of his missing girlfriend.
Duncan is philosophic about the whole money thing. He believes that anything worth having requires a difficult process and he’s bang on with that. The Age has a nice interview up with Duncan where he talks about the difficulties in getting an intelligent Sci-Fi movie made. Duncan wants to spend about 5 times the money on “Mute” that he spent on “Moon”. Also in the interview but not elaborated on was Jones’ “eye on” William Gibson’s Neuromancer, a book near and dear to all a true sci-fi believers heart. Thanks io9 for the heads up.
