Doomsday The TV Series?

Neil Marshall’s “Doomsday”, released last year, didn’t exactly set the world on fire. I thought it was fine, and Rhona Mitra was incredibly sexy in the role while still kicking all kinds of ass. So a TV version of the movie? Hey, why not. At least, it’s “official” enough that someone has created an IMDB.com page for it, and it even lists a director, writer, and stars, as well as the fact that the Sci Fi Channel will be distributing it (as well as showing it on its airwaves, one presumes).

Actors that have already been attached to the series include Marina Sirtis (of Star Trek fame), Colin Salmon, Xenia Seeberg (of Lexx fame), Didem Erol, and Theo Cross. Actor Luke Goss, from “Blade 2″ and “Hellboy 2: The Golden Army”, is listed as “rumored” to be involved in the series. Nick Lyon, who last helmed the sci-fi sequel “Species: The Awakening”, will direct from a script by Rafael Jordan, who has previously wrote two Sci Fi Channel Original Movies that I’m aware of, “Wraiths of Roanoke” and “Yeti: Curse of the Snow Demon”.

So yeah, this thing looks real, alright. I can’t believe it’s flown under the radar for so long! Not saying that I think making a TV series based on the movie is a good idea, but I’m also not saying that it isn’t. I mean, a post-apocalyptic TV series? I’d watch that.

Of course, they’d better fine someone pretty awesome to take over Rhona Mitra’s Eden Sinclair, unless they want to completely go in a new direction, which may not be such a bad idea…

Below: Rhona Mitra can survive any apocalypse with that top on.

This guy was in the film, check out his photos for proof, him and Luke Goss and other cast members. And his blog tells us it's not related to Neil Marshall's film.

It's a sci-fi channel TV Movie. Marina Sirtis's website in Sept said: "Marina just completed filming in Bulgaria for her role as a government official involved in a particle collider project. The new movie is called "Doomsday" and will air on the Sci-Fi Channel." There is very little info but I don't think it's related to the film Doomsday.
