District 10 Starts Pre-Production, Avatar 2 Spoiler, and Mortal Engines is a Go
Nix April 27, 2010The boys at Market Saw have some great updates on some highly anticipated upcoming films, including two sequels and one original. Up first, James Cameron’s “Avatar 2″, which should make even more money than the first, if that’s even possible.
A source tells MS something very interesting about the film’s plot:
“Oh and Pandora has a lot of shit coming its way. Break out the space marines, looks like some bugs need a stomping.”
Ooooh. Does this mean the humans and Na’vi actually team up this time to fight some alien invaders? It would be nice not to see us humans as the bad guys. I mean, come on, are we really THAT bad a people, James?
Anyhoo. Over to Peter Jackson land, MS has updates on two of his WETA-backed projects: “Mortal Engines” and the “District 9″ sequel, tentatively titled “District 10″.
The good news is that “Engines” is “definitely a go”, and will be based on a series of five books by Phillip Reeve that is set in a devastated post annihilation world where huge floating cities roam the skies and do battle. Holy shit.
As to “District 10″, pre-production has already begun, with the film set to shoot as early as this October on location in South Africa and New Zealand. As with the first movie, Peter Jackson will produce and Neill Blomkamp will be back in the director’s chair.
