Maybe there’s a reason George Lucas sent his Death Star to take out the Enterprise after all. Stumbled across this video over at CollegeHumor.com, which not-so-subtly makes the case that J.J. Abrams’ new “Star Trek” is little more than a carbon copy of George Lucas’ original “Star Wars”, complete with disgruntled farm boy. You know, before he got moronic and introduced us to greedy aliens and Jar Jar Binks?
You can certainly make the case that the plot of “Star Wars” itself wasn’t exactly original, as most of the original trilogy was lifted from Akira Kurosawa’s “The Hidden Fortress”. And really, hasn’t the farm boy makes good plot been done in a lot of movies before “Star Wars”, and repeated since?

Star Wars is NOT Science Fiction….it’s Fantasy, and it’s essentially for children.
George Lucas has the mind of an infant….at least when it comes to film-making.
Yeah it was almost as DUMB.
Oh it definitely resembles star wars. Watching the commentary on the dvd they say like 5 or 6 times ” this is when we did the thing like in star wars ” star wars are good movies, star trek are good movies…. but you cant combine them, that makes a bad movie. Star trek movies should be slow paced with lots of drama, not rushing to get to all the action scenes, it should be more lush.. star wars should be the exact opposite. This new star trek movie ranks on the list of trek movies right about where episode 3 ranks for SW flicks… very near the bottom
