Diablo Cody’s Zombie Romance “Breathers” Among The Living

Some of you may remember that Diablo Cody (Jennifer’s Body) was producing the adaptation of Breathers: A Zombie’s Lament? by S.G. Browne. Looks like Cody now has a script for the tale of a guy that comes back to life after an auto accident that kills his wife only to learn that society does not welcome the fresh and not so freshly dead back to polite company.

Told entirely from the perspective of the Zombie, we learn that eating human flesh is not the only thing a Zombie lusts after.

Yeah, we have a script now,” Cody said in an exclusive interview. “Woo-hoo! It’s actually an incredibly awesome tight script, so we’re going to move forward, attach a director next and the whole lovely development process.”

It’s funny, too: These zombies try to live normal lives in society. They even go to support groups. All the laughs from the book remain in the script. “Yeah, if you’re a fan of the book, I think people are going to be pleased,” Cody said.
