Dark City Sequel? Alex Proyas Says It’s Possible
Dark City 2 Movie, Sci-Fi Movie News — By Nix on March 10, 2009
I’ll tell you what, folks, not a whole lot gets me giggling like a little school girl anymore, but this news from Alex Proyas himself that there is a possibility of a “Dark City” sequel, and that he’s even worked out the idea for it, gets me all giggly and school girlish. In an interview with MTV while promoting his upcoming “Knowing”, Proyas mentions the cult following for the film, and how it’s convinced people there might be an actual audience, the kind that didn’t show up back in 1998.
Proyas told MTV this about what the sequel (if it happens) would be about, and what are the chances of a sequel:
“I always thought it would be intriguing to have Rufus [Sewell], who was the hero in the first one, be the bad guy… He should turn nasty because he’s got unlimited power. That’s something I’d like to explore.
There have been some discussions fairly recently… It’s had this shelf life and just lately it’s done well enough that there have been some discussions about a sequel.”
“Some discussions” could mean anything from two producers at a BBQ to studio guys in suits actually sitting around a table talking about the possibility of a “Dark City 2″. Either way, I’m excited to know that Proyas is excited about the possibility about returning to the 1998 movie’s world.
And yes, you definitely have to bring back Jennifer Connelly if there is a sequel. That’s a given, right?

Let’s hope that the new movie has a decent ending. The ending of the last one ruined the entire movie.
