Both the new iPod shuffle and the Amazon Kindle 2 have pretty good voice synthesis built in. DVICE puts the two head to head in the opening scene of “Blade Runner” where Leon is being interviewed and tested by Holden for Replicantness. The Kindle 2 does an amazing job and Apple needs to play a bit of catch up. The scene works amazingly well I think with the deadpan delivery. Less can really be more.
