Christopher Nolan Spills Beans On Inception Plot
Inception (2010) Movie, Sci-Fi Movie News — By endymi0n on January 14, 2010So much for all the secrecy surrounding the plot of Christopher Nolan’s “Inception”. Chris sat down or was likely phone jumped by the good lads over at the L.A. Times where he basically gives it all up. Chris says things that I will not attempt to paraphrase for you. Instead, let’s just let him unburden himself in quotations.
“This is the biggest challenge I’ve taken on to this point,” said Nolan, who may return to Gotham City for his next feature. “We’re trying to tell a story on a massive scale, a true blockbuster scale – the biggest I’ve ever been involved with. We tried to make a very large-scale film with ‘The Dark Knight’ and with this one we wanted to push that even further.”
The following business wasn’t directly quoted. I am inferring that the article writer tortured this description from Chris or Emma Thomas, wife of Mr. Nolan and his production partner.
A key part of the premise is corporate espionage by way of dream invasion, but motives and even reality are slippery in a film that toys with perception as its travels through time and space. The crew covered a lot of territory too, filming in six countries.
This part was directly quoted.
“It’s something that we had been talking about on and off for seven or eight years,” Thomas said. “Coming off of the ‘The Dark Knight,’ the only thing we really knew is that we wanted to do something more personal. It seemed like the right time to do this. The fact that it’s really just an enormous movie — that wasn’t ever really a factor in the decision. This story lends itself to a movie of this size.”
“Inception” stars Leo Dicaprio, Marion Cotillard, Cillian Murphy, Michael Caine, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Ellen Page and Ken Watanabe. There are not many directors these days that make movies that are guaranteed to be awesome but Chris is one of them. Thanks to CHUD for the heads up.

Looking forward to this movie more than any other this year.
I hope he doesn’t alienate the “casual” movie goer too much. He makes amazing movies but some of his movies require a PhD to understand while most audiences, American in particular just want to see explosions.
Sounds amazing though I still can’t get my head around it even with the “reveal”.
