Christian Slater and the Director of Battlefield Earth Team Up for Stranded
Nix July 10, 2012Christian Slater spends a lot of time in direct-to-DVD land nowadays. Too much time, probably, for someone who used to be so big back in his heyday. And like most former A-lister now toiling away in direct-to-DVD land, Slater will usually output quite a number of titles per year. In 2012 alone, he’s already got 12 movies in the pipeline, not to mention work on TV’s “Breaking In” where he plays one of the main leads. (Well, not anymore. That show’s since been canceled.)
One of Slater’s upcoming gigs is a sci-fi actioner, and involves him teaming up with Roger Christian, the guy who famously directed the most infamously bad sci-fi movie of all time (or thereabouts), “Battlefield Earth”. After that mess, Christian disappeared for a while, resurfacing in 2004 with a pair of small movies, then disappeared completely for 8 more years. He’s back in 2012 with “Stranded”.
The story centers on a series of terrifying events that take place aboard the Ark moon base. When a meteor suddenly collides with their base, the astronauts find themselves in immediate danger. The crew quickly learns that spores from the meteorite can replicate cell structure, reproduce and mutate, forcing everyone on board to fight for their lives.
The film co-stars Amy Matysio, Michael Therriault, Brendan Fehr, and is currently in production up there in Canada ways.
